A
sorting injuries based on acuity of injury and resultant required treatment

Triage Categories
A
- Serious: require additional Tx before other needs attended to
- Minimal: can attend to other needs as well as primary
- Expectant: hopelessly wounded; futile to extend resources

- Urgent
- Immediate
- Delayed

Urgent
A
- life-threatening injuries requiring resuscitation and life-saving procedure immediately on arrival
- life- limb threatening condition
- ER

Immediate
A
- life-threatening injuries that require surgery within 2 hours of arrival at hospital
- require medical referral within 1-2 days
- urgent care

Delayed
A
- wounds not immediately life-threatening; delay in surgery won’t compromise care
- condition should be eval’d within week
