Translatory mechanisms, output & feedback Flashcards
1
Q
What do the translatory mechanisms do?
A
- Use info from the perceptual mechanisms and decides what actions to take.
2
Q
What is the process?
A
- Info from the senses is filtered and adapted into an image- then sent to STM.
- Translatory mechanism= uses past experiences, so fresh info can be linked to them and stored in LTM.
- Similar actions are stored in the memory= recognised + used.
- Actions= stored in the memory as motor programmes.
- Mechanism uses coded info from perceptual mechanism to select the appropriate motor programme (RESPONSE SELECTION).
3
Q
Summary of the TM
A
- Make mental image.
- Compare to past experiences.
- Pick recognised action.
- Response selection.
4
Q
Which performers is the TM most effective in?
A
- Experienced performers= already have stored motor programmes.
5
Q
Effector mechanism
A
- Once the motor programme is selected the effector system is used.
- It is the network of nerves responsible for delivering the decisions (made during perceptual stage) to the relevant muscles to perform the action.
6
Q
What happens after the effector system?
A
- Muscles receive coded impulse, the muscles therefore contract, and the response begins.
7
Q
Output
A
- The movement/ action is performed.
8
Q
Feedback
A
- Info about the movement.
- Used to aid movement correction.
e.g. Intrinsic, extrinsic
