Translatory mechanisms, output & feedback Flashcards

1

Q

What is the process?

A
  1. Info from the senses is filtered and adapted into an image- then sent to STM.
  2. Translatory mechanism= uses past experiences, so fresh info can be linked to them and stored in LTM.
  3. Similar actions are stored in the memory= recognised + used.
  4. Actions= stored in the memory as motor programmes.
  5. Mechanism uses coded info from perceptual mechanism to select the appropriate motor programme (RESPONSE SELECTION).

Q

Summary of the TM

A
  1. Make mental image.
  2. Compare to past experiences.
  3. Pick recognised action.
  4. Response selection.

Q

Which performers is the TM most effective in?

Q

Effector mechanism

A
  • Once the motor programme is selected the effector system is used.
  • It is the network of nerves responsible for delivering the decisions (made during perceptual stage) to the relevant muscles to perform the action.

Q

What happens after the effector system?

A
  • Muscles receive coded impulse, the muscles therefore contract, and the response begins.

A
  • Info about the movement.
  • Used to aid movement correction.
