Constructivism learning theory Flashcards
1
Q
What is the ConLT also known as?
A
- Social development theory.
- Vygotsky.
2
Q
What are the 3 roles of the ConLT
A
- Role of interaction.
- More knowledgeable others.
- Zone of proximal development.
3
Q
- Role of interaction
A
- Interaction with others plays a vital role in learning (social development).
- ‘Learning how to learn’- social process.
- This is called inter-psychological learning (learning from others externally).
4
Q
- More knowledgeable others
A
- Person who has a greater understanding.
- Provide technical advice + feedback.
- They may influence learners by:
1. High levels of effort.
2. Healthier lifestyle
3. Clear communication
5
Q
How do we learn skills externally?
A
- Advice
- Feedback
- Tactical knowledge
6
Q
How can we use external skills?
A
- External advice- learner will cognitively analyse- construct actions on what they have learnt.
7
Q
When does learning from within take place?
A
- Learning from within takes place after learning from external sources.
8
Q
Social development (within + external)
A
- Learning from/ interacting with people and external sources (inter-psychological learning).
- Learning from within (intra-psychological learning).
9
Q
- Zone of proximal development
A
- Assessment that learners will use in order to see what they need to do next in order to learn the skill.
Use 3 levels of performance:
1. What can I do alone?= independently.
2. What can I do with help?= MKO + scaffolding.
3. What can I not do yet?
10
Q
Limitations
A
- Ensure the learner is provided with a range of experience in their zone of proximal development- motivate and encourage them to advance their individual skills.
11
Q
Theory may not be applicable to all sports..
A
- Learning is dependent on accurate modelling- if inaccurate learning is impacted negatively.
- Learning also depends on the ability of the performer- lower ability= slow process.
