What is an example of a transit flight?
When an a/c makes a transit stop to collect or disembark passengers or uplift extra fuel.
During a transit flight what two things must happen?
- Passengers must remain on board
- CC must follow boarding procedures and man all doors
What is a ferry flight?
Flight to delivery an a/c.
Who is present on a ferry flight? What are their responsibilities?
Only flight crew are permitted on board.
They must ensure cabin, toilets and galleys are secured.
What is a positioning flight?
A flight carrying no fare paying passengers.
Who is present on a positioning flight? What are their responsibilities?
Flight crew carry out CC duties (close doors, secure cabin, arm the slides etc).
Should the flight require CC - normal duties are assigned.

What is the order of status for roles on a flight? (descending order)
- Captain
- First officer
- Senior CC

How many passengers does one CC attend to?
50 passengers per one CC, or a fraction of.
What are the two mains roles of the captain?
- Final responsibility for the operation and safety of the a/c and all passengers, crew and cargo onboard.
- Responsible to ensure all CC carry out their duties in compliance with procedures enforced by operator.
What are the four rules when serving food/drink in the cockpit?
- All drinks must be served with a screw-top container.
- CC should stand away from the flight deck seats and make the flight crew aware of their presence.
- Different means are served to the flight crew at different times to avoid food poisoning.
- CC in the flight deck must be directly facing the door when the door is open.
What are the six rules enforced in relation to admission to the flight deck?
- Passengers are NOT permitted entry.
- Visits are only permitted on ground.
- All visits are at the captains discretion.
- Any company person must present a valid company ID or airport ID.
- Any company person occupying the jump stead must be familiar with safety procedures and the operation and location of their oxygen mask.
- IAA inspectors may visit the flight deck with valid ID.
