Aircraft layout Passengers
What does FWD mean?
Forward - towards the nose of the a/c
What does AFT mean?
Rear - towards the tail of the a/c
What is BSI? What does it include?
Boeing Sky Interior:
- Larger stowage bins
- More headroom around aisle seats
- Greater sense of space
- Different lighting schemes
What direction is outboard referring to?
Towards the outer edge of the cabin (windows)
What direction is inboard referring to?
Towards the inner section of the cabin (aisle)
What is mean by direct access?
A seat from which a passenger can proceed directly to an exit without entering an aisle or passing an obstruction.
What is meant by a direct access row segment?
Row segment with at least one direct access seat.
What is meant by an assist space?
Defined area for CC to stand at each emergency door to evacuate passengers without causing an obstruction.
What does INOP mean?
Equipment inoperative or with a technical fault.
Whats the difference between a row seat and a row segment?
Row seat - Singular seat
Row segment - Group (usually 3) of seats on one row not obstructed by an aisle
What is meant by a PA?
Public Address/Passenger Announcement
Heard over the loudspeakers in the cabin.
What is meant by an ABP?
Able-Bodied Passenger
Person who volunteers or is nominated to assist the CC in an emergency situation.
What is meant by a PPAX?
Disruptive passenger:
- Under the influence of drugs/alcohol
- Disobeys instructions
- Threatening or abusive behaviour
What is meant by an infant?
Passenger under the age of 2. Does not require a seat.
What is meant by THOB? When must this be recorded?
Total Heads On Board, including:
- Aircrew
- Supernumeraries
- Passengers
- Infants
Must be correctly recorded before the flight.
