What 3 points should you follow when directing an evacuation?
- CC should stand in assist space as to not impede the flow of passengers.
- Aim to establish a rate of one person per second - If a person refuses to move use whatever force necessary to commit them to do so.
- Do NOT stop an evacuation for a pileup at the base of the slide - this will resolve itself
What’s the ideal time for an a/c to be fully evacuated?
90 seconds
What are the two types of panic passengers may experience in an emergency situation?
Positive and negative panic
What is meant by positive panic?
Passengers shouting screaming and rushing - making it difficult to brief them
What is meant by negative panic?
Passengers taking little action, sitting dazed etc.
What should you do if a CC member becomes hysterical in an emergency situation?
Try and calm them gently, but firmly.
Remove them from the sight of any passengers.
What type of commands should you avoid during an evacuation?
Negative commands; “DON’T STAY SEATED”
Scare phrases; “FIRE” or “WE’VE CRASHED”
What general evacuation commands can be used at any location at any time?
“COME THIS WAY!”
“MOVE FASTER!”
“OPEN YOUR SEATBELTS AND GET OUT!”
“LEAVE EVERYTHING BEHIND!”
“KEEP MOVING!”
What evacuation commands can be used when the slide is inflated on land?
“JUMP AND SLIDE!”
“STAY ON YOUR FEET!”
