Where can we hear the bronchial sounds, in normal conditions?
Above the larynx and trachea
Where can we hear the bronchial sounds, in abnormal conditions?
More caudally, when peri-bronchial tissue have less air
What is the bronchial sound produced by?
Stenotic effect of the relatively solid airway of the larynx and trachea
What causes the bronchial sound?
The vortex formation of the inhaled air within the gradually narrowing passages of the upper respiratory tract
What does the bronchial sound resemble?
Blowing, and resembles the “ch” sound
When is bronchial sound normal and abnormal?
Abnormal during exhalation
Can be normal during inhalation in cow, cat, dog and swine
Name other situations that a bronchial is abnormal:
- During exhalation, ALWAYS
- During rapid respiration above narrow upper airways
- Peribronchial lung tissue contain less air

- Bronchial
- Bronchial like
Description of bronchial sound:
laryngotracheo-bronchial
Strong-audible blowing sound, resembles the “H” sound during expiration and inspiration
Description of the bronchial-like sound:
Tracheo-bronchial
A deeper, softer, harsher than the bronchial sound
Resembles “F” and “H” sounds tohether
Where can we listen for the bronchial sound?
Above the normal larynx and trachea
Where can we listen for the bronchial like sound?
above the cranial thorax
