Topic 2 - 2.4 - Ions and Isotopes Flashcards

1
Q

What is the difference between ISOTOPES and IONS?

Q

What is an ION? Why do they form?

A
  • A charged atom or molecule.
  • They form so the atoms can have a stable electron arrangement. Their arrangement is called an ionic crystal lattice(3D).

6
Q

Why are IONS charged?

A

They are charged because the number of electrons do not equal the number of protons in the atom or molecule.
