TOPIc 13 Flashcards
Brachial plexus
Situated cranial to first rib
Composed of spinal nerves
O: Segment of C6, C7, C8, T1 and T2
Consist of: Nn Subscapularis N.Suprascapularis N.musulocutaneus N.Axilaris N.Radialis N.Medianus N.Ulnaris
Underneath the calenus muscle
How to disect the Brachial plexus?
- Refleckt limb with a large portion of the latissimus dorsi muscle and mm.pectorales
- Find the 4 main roots and clean
- Trace, and clean the whole brachium
Mm.scaleni
- M.scalenus dorsalis O: From C4-C6 vertebraes transverse process I: Two parts: Dorsal - On first 4 ribs Ventral - On first 9-8 ribs
M.Scalenus medius
O: From 6-7 Vertebraes transverse process
I: Cranial border of first rib
A: Helps inspirarion, Bilateral and Unilateral cobtraction
Nn.Subscapulare
There can be several branches perforating the subscapular muscle.
Originates from the cranial margin
C5,C6 and.C7
N.Suprascapularis
Supplies the supra spinous muscle
Oringinates from C6 and C7
M.musculocutaneus
Runs next to the biceps muscle, Tucked away
Originates from C6 and C7
Further down, beside the a.brachialis on oposite side of the median nerve
N.Axillaris
Thickest nerve, digs into the region of the shoulder joint (armpit)
Originates from C7 and C8
N.Radialis
Thick nerve, Perforate the triceps and can be found on the lateral aspect of the forelimb, just above the elbow joint
Originates: C7, C8, T1
N.Medianus
Runs on the medial aspect of limb
Originates from C8 and T1
close to brachial artery -Ulnar nerve paralell
N.ulnaris
Runs on medial aspect of limb,
Head towards olecranon,
Gives of a cutaneus ulnar branch going caudaly
Originating from C8 and T1
Lc. axilaris
- Ln axullaris proprius
Around a.thoracodorsalis. Burried around “octopus’s leg” - Ln. axillarus accesorius (not always present)
Between mm.pectorales and M.latissumus dorsi
