TOPIC 12 Flashcards
What to do first?
Start on the lateral aspect of dogs thorax, running along chestwall
N.Thoracicus lateralis
Runs in the space between the M.Latissimus dorsi and M.pectorales profundus
Branches of the C8 and Th1 from the plexus (caudal part of plexus)
Innervates: The abdominal part of the cutaneus muscle. + Some branches that intermingle with intercostal nerves
Sensory and Motornerve
N.Thoracicus longus
Runs over the M.serratus ventralis = innervation of the thoracic part if this muscle.
Cervical part of seratus ventralis muscle is supplied by cervical spinal nerves
Motor nerve
- Look for m.serratus ventralis pars thoracicus
- Dissect with the aim of reflecting the forlimb.
- Transect the m.latissimus dorsi around the last rib.
- Reflect cranialy, as you do this: Try to abduct the scapula away from the body.
- The mm. serratus ventralis will be tight, holding the scapula to the chest.
- The nerve runs over the muscle belly!
N.thoracodorsalis
Runs with A.thoracodorsalis Branches from C8, (C6&C7) Arise from the last cervical spinal nerve Runs caudaly Crosses the teres major muscle Supplies m.latissimus dorsi. Branches out on the medial surface of the brodest muscle of the back - innervates Motor nerve
- Reflect large portion of m.latissimus dorsi cranialy
- Follow the muscle belly towards its point of insertion (Tuberositas teres major)
- On this flat muscles medial side, you will se a nerve running
Nn. Pectoralis cranialis et caudalis
Cranial: Derive from ventral branches C6-C8 spinal nerve
Caudal: Derive from ventral branches of C8,T1andT2
Look between superficial and deep pectoral muscles. Who is more cranialy and caudaly?
Thoracic Girdle = PRECARDIAC section
