Q

Source of Blood

A

The Spleen sends Food-Qi upwards to the Lungs, and through the pushing action of Lung-Qi this is sent to the Heart, where it is transformed into Blood. Kidneys store Essence, which produces Marrow. This, in turn, generates bone marrow, which contributes to making Blood.

Q

Formation And Distribution of Body Fluids

A

Food and drink are transformed and separated by the Spleen. Some ‘clean’ fluids then go up from the Spleen to the Lungs. which spread some of them to the skin and send some of them down to the Kidneys. From the Spleen. some ‘dirty’ liquids go down to the Small Intestine where they are separated again, this time into pure and impure liquids. Following this second separation the pure fluids go to the Bladder and the impure fluids go to the Large Intestine, where some water is reabsorbed. The Bladder further transforms and separates the fluids it receives into pure and impure. The pure fluids now upwards and go to the Exterior of the body where they form sweat. The impure fluids flow downwards and are transformed into urine.

Q

Jin 津

A

Fluid; yang, clear light thin and watery, circulates with defensive qi, moves quickly, from upper burner, moistens skin and muscles, sweat tears saliva and mucus, becomes part of blood.

17
Q

Ye 液

A

Liquids; yin, turbid heavy and dense, circulates with nutritive qi relatively slowly, under control of middle and lower burners, moistens joints, spine, brain and marrow, lubricates orifices.

18

A

Resides in KD, responsible for will power, drive, determination.

23
Q

A

魂魄神意志 Ethereal Soul, Corporeal Soul, Mind, Will Power, Intellect

24
Q

Body Fluid Flow

A

From SP/ST split into pure and impure. Impure is sent down into the SI where it is then separated again into pure and impure. From there the Pure flows to to the UB ,the impure flows into the LI. The LI separates pure and impure again, the impure is excreted in the feces, the pure is re-absorbed. The UB separates the pure and impure, the pure goes to the skin and muscles, the impure is excreted as urine. From the SP/ST the pure is sent up to the LU, where it is then further separated, pure is sent to the space between the muscles and the skin, the impure is send to the KD. The KD sends impure to the UB, and pure is “steamed” back up to moisten the lungs.
