16
Q

ST: Controls Rotting and Ripening of Food

A

ST macerates food to break it down • ST prepares for SP to separate and extract essence from food • ST is the origin of Qi and Blood as Food-Qi (Gu Qi) is extracted from the ST • Strong ST-Qi: good prognosis • Weak ST-Qi: poor prognosis

17
Q

ST: Controls Transportation of Food Essences

A

ST transports the Qi of Food to the pulse • Tongue coating: ST transports ‘dirty damp’ to tongue, producing a normal coating

18
Q

ST: Controls the descending of QI

A

ST descends transformed food down to Sl • Rebellious: sour regurgitation, belching, hiccup, nausea and vomiting • ST is in the center and the descending of its Qi is essential • LV Qi helps the descending of ST Qi

19
Q

ST: Is the origin of fluids

A

ST is in the origin of fluids through its process of maceration of food and drink • ST fluid deficiency: leading to Yin deficiency • In relation to fluids: ST is the Gate to KD • To R&R, ST needs lots of fluids • Liquid part of food and drink condenses to form Jin-Ye

20
Q

ST: Mental Aspects

A

ST easily suffers from Fire or Phlegm-Fire • Fire easily agitates Mind and causes mental symptoms

21
Q

LI: Controls Passage and Conduction

A

Receives food and drink from Sl and extracts water from food • Excretes Stools

22
Q

LI: Transforms Stools and Reabsorbs Fluids

A

Transforms digested food to form stools • Reabsorbs some of the fluids

23
Q

LI: Mental Aspect

A

Ll influences our capacity for ‘letting go’ and for not dwelling in the past

24
Q

UB: Removes water by Qi transformation

A

UB receives clear fluids from Sl, and transforms these into urine, which is excreted • Qi transformation: The power for fluids transformation TRANSFORMATION • Other organs that work with UB: Sl, HT, SJ, LV, LU

25
Q

UB: Mental Aspect

A

In adults: feeling of jealousy, suspicion, long-standing grudges Cl • In children: fears, anxieties or insecurities which leads to a sinking of UB Qi
