Skin Temperature: Cold
Cold areas of body related to channels, organs, etc. mostly deficiency or stagnation
Skin Temperature: Heat
Hot skin or hot to touch mostly excess heat, but could be yin deficiency heat if heat is close to bone (deep)
Skin Moisture and Texture: Moist Skin
Exterior Wind
Skin Moisture and Texture: Moist Skin without exterior symptoms
LU Qi deficiency
Skin Moisture and Texture: Dry Skin
Blood deficiency, LU Yin deficiency
Skin Moisture and Texture: Rough Skin
Bi syndrome from wind
Skin Moisture and Texture: Scaly and dry skin
Exhaustion of Body Fluids, Severe deficiency, LV Blood dryness
Skin Moisture and Texture: Swollen Skin, pitting
“Water Swelling” from SP/KD yang deficiency
Skin Moisture and Texture: Swollen Skin, non pitting
“Qi Swelling” from Damp or Qi Stagnation
Apical Pulse
Found on the left side of the chest in the 5th intercostal space at the midclavicular line. Felt to assess the Zong Qi and HT
Area Below Xyphoid Process
(zhong ting/ jiu wei area) Palpated to assess the HT and its situation
Chest: Ren 17 tender with light palpation
HT Blood Stasis (could be severe)
Chest: Tenderness relieved by palpation
Deficiency
Chest: Tenderness relieved by light palpation but elicited by deep palpation
deficiency + excess
Breast Lumps: Fribrocystic disease
small multiple movable lumps with distinct edges, changing size according to the menstrual cycle. Qi Stag and Phlegm.
