  • apex formed by tip of left ventricle
19
Q

Heart Chambers

A
  • 4 chambers
  • left and right atria, left and right ventricles
  • Inter-atrial and inter-ventricular septums
20
Q

function of heart ?

A
  • recieves deoxy blood from body
  • pumps to lungs
  • recieves oxy blood form lungs
  • pumps to rest of body
21
Q

Blood Flow Within the Heart

A
  • Deoxy blood enters the right atrium from the body through the superior and inferior vena cava
  • passes through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle.
-pumps through the pulmonary valve into the pulmonary arteries to the lungs for oxygenation
  • returns from the lungs to the left atrium via the pulmonary veins.
  • passes through the mitral (bicuspid) valve into the left ventricle.
-pumps through the aortic valve into the aorta and out to the body.
