When are therapy plans used?
For IV treatment. are used when the patient needs any recurring or one-time non-oncology infusion treatments. Therapy plans allow you to enter groups of orders that will carry over to multiple visits if needed.

What should you enter for start date for therapy plans and why?
Today. This will make the orders available whenever the patient is able to attend his first treatment.
Who Should be the lead provider?
provider who is ordering the treatment.
When is the treatment department required?
When ordering blood products. In the case of blood orders, the lab needs to be aware of the treatment to prepare the blood product before the treatment appointment.
In what setting is therapy plans usually done in?
Hospital Outpatient Departments (HOD).
What kind of orders will you see with therapy plans?
Bed/inpatient orders.
Can you uncheck orders from the therapy plan if it is not pertinent to your patient?
Yes, just don’t check them. Therapy plans can be customized to the patient.
What do you need to put in for order schedule for medications?
The number of treatments needed
What should the interval always be?
Set to every visit. Changing this setting may lock orders if the patient’s visits are inconsistent.
What is a quick way to put the intervals and the duration for all the orders in the therpay plan at once?
at the top or bottom of the therapy plan click edit interval.
What should you do as a nurse if you are creating the therapy plan since you cannot sign it?
Route it to the provider
In Wisconsin how do you schedule infusion treatment?
Place a call to the department where the medication will be administered to schedule the initial administration. The administering department will schedule subsequent visits.
