What is an Episode?
An episode is required to document anticoagulation encounters.
What will the episode of care hyperlink open?
open the Episodes of Care activity. This allows us to see all linked visits and associated problems specific to Sally’s anticoagulation episode.
Why is it important to ensure that all linked problems are relevant to anticoagulation monitoring?
For billing purposes. Once selected, the indications will remain until they are manually removed, so you will not need to add them for each visit. Indications that are linked to the episode will become visit diagnoses for any linked visits.

What do you do if you receive paperwork for an INR result drawn outside of aah or you get a fax?
actual lab result should be sent for scanning. On the fax coversheet you will mark this as STAT. The anti-coag scanning fax number can be obtained from your clinical site. Within an hour, the labwill be scanned into Epic and you will see the result in the Anticoagulation Tracking. At AAH we do not manually enter external INR results, except home finger stick testing.
