Q

What are the strengths of the WMM

A

Baddeley- proves there are separate stores
Gave two tasks to do
Visual and verbal - good answer because there are separate stores
Verbal and Verbal - poorly answered because the phonological loop is overwhelmed
Shallice
KF had an accident and his STM verbal was affected but STM visual wasn’t
This shows there’s two STM stores
Has practical applications for example its used to help children with impaired memory
Imcreaing internal validity

Q

What’s the disadvantage of the WMM

A

The central executive is too vague
It’s the most important store however we have no indication how it works
There should be components within
