What is a topographic map?
Shows relief features of a map.
What is an upland area?
Upland areas are high above sea level (above 200m). They are often (but not always) mountainous features.
What is a lowland area?
Lowland areas are not very high above sea level. They are often flat.
What is igneous rock?
Hard, resistant rock.
What is metamorphic rock?
Hard, resistant rock.
What is sedimentary rock?
Soft, less resistant rock.
Where is igneous and metamorphic rock usually found?
Upland areas.
What type of rock is found in lowland areas?
Sedimentary rock.
What is relief?
The height and shape of the land.
What does relief include?
Height above sea level, steepness of slopes and the shapes of landscape features.
What does Great Britain include?
Scotland, England and Wales.
What does the United Kingdom include?
Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
What does the British Isles include?
Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
