The Odyssey: Book 9 Flashcards
Summary:
Odysseus arrives at the land of kikonians and they kill everyone and take over, Odysseus then tries to get his men to go back to the sea so they can go home but his men are starving so they refuse.
10 days later they land on the island of the lotus eaters, 3 of his men ate the flower and lost their memory. Odysseus then gathers his men and leaves the island and arrive on the land of the cyclops.
His mean want to steal but Odysseus says no and wants to be civilised with the cyclops’. The cyclops has no intentions of being civilised and asks where odysseus’ ship is, he lies and the cyclops eats two men then falls asleep.
Odysseus plans to kill the cyclops in his sleep but cannot escape the cave without the cyclops’ help so he waits and offers him some wine when he awakes and says his name is nobody.
The cyclops gets drunk and Odysseus blinds him with a sharpened pole and escapes on sheep, the other cyclops asks what happened and and Polyphemus says no one blinded him. Odysseus escapes but taunts Polyphemus And he asks Poseidon to curse him so Poseidon does.
