Q

How is a meander formed?

A

On a meander the river flows the fastest on the outside of the bend

On the outside of the bend there is much more lateral erosion and undercutting whereas on the inside of a river, deposition occurs and much more material is left behind due to there being less energy on the inner bend

A slip off slope is formed due to extra material on the inner bend and a river cliff is created on the outer bend
