A

Bilobed structure on the floor of the pelvis, surrounding urethra.

17
Q

What is the function of the Bulbourethral gland ?

A

Produce some ejaculate fluid which also acts as a flushing agent for the urethra and provides lubrication. Not present in the dog.

18
Q

What is the function of the Seminal vesicle ?

A

Secrete a nutrient fluid to nourish and activate sperm.

19
Q

What is the function of GnRH Gonadotropin releasing hormone and where is it produced ?

A

Light stimulates pineal gland - reduces melatonin secretion. Allowing GnRH to be secreted and stimulates LH and FSH.
Controls other reproductive hormones
Secreted by hypothalamus (the anterior pituitary)

20
Q

What is the function of Luteinising hormone (LH) and where is it produced ?

A

Stimulates the production of testosterone from Leydig cells in the testes.
Anterior pituitary gland

21
Q

What is the function of Follicle stimulating hormone and where is it produced ?

A

Helps control sperm production.

Anterior pituitary gland

22
Q

What is the function of Testosterone and where is it produced ?

A

Development of sex organs tissues and secondary sexual characteristics.
Testes

23
Q

What is the function of Androgen-binding hormone and where is it produced ?

A

Helps maintain high levels of testosterone in the testes.

Seminiferous tubules
