two common METs
Ankle joint into dorsiflexion Subtalar joint into inversion/ eversion
Morton’s test
squeeze toes +ve ; sharp pain /neurological symptoms (usually 3rd toe)
Anterior draw test for ankle
Hold distal tibia firm, cup calcaneous and pull firmly anteriorly. +ve = tear of anterior talofibular ligament
Inversion test for ankle
+ ve for
calcaneofibular ligament
Tarsal Tunnel Nerve entrapment
- entrapment of posterior tibial nerve travelling behind the flexor retinaculum
briskly tap directly behind medial malleolus.
What bones make up wth lateral arch?
calcaneus, cuboid, 4 & 5th metatarsals
What bones make up the medial arch of the foot?
calcaneus, talus, navicular, cuneiform, metatarsals
What muscles cause plantar flexion at the ankle joint? (downwards action)
gastrocnemius & soleus
peroneus longus
