Bones Flashcards
carpal bones
Proximal row : Scaphoid/ Lunate Triquetrum. Pisiform (like a pea) Distral row : Hamate/ Capitate/ Trapezoid/ Trapezium
what is located at the top of the glenoid fossa?
shoulder
supraglenoid tubercle
what attaches to the glenoid cavity?
shoulder
glenoidal labrum
this is a fibrocartilaginous rim that deepens the glenoid cavity. It is a continuum of the biceps brachii (long head)
what can you find at the base of the coracoid process, and what structure passes through?
(shoulder)
the suprascapular notch.
The suprascapular nerve passes through. Formed by C5-C6 roots, and innervates the suprascapularis and infrascapularis muscles.
What is located below the glenoid fossa, and what structure originates here?
(shoulder)
infraglenoid tubercle.
Origin of the long head of the triceps brachii
what bones make up the thumb saddle joint?
I metacarpal and the trapezium
what is the name of the articular surface on the humerus that articulates with the radius?
capitulum
On the posterior of the humerus is the olecranon fossa, what is found anteriorly?
coronoid fossa
- this receives the coronoid process of the ulnar bone during forearm flexion
What attaches to the greater tubercle?
humerus
supraspinatus
infraspinatus
teres minor
what attaches to the lesser tubercle?
humerus
subscapularis
what carpal bones does the scaphoid articulate with?
trapezium (joins to metacarpal I to form the saddle joint), and the trapezoid.
what other bone forms the lunate column?
capitate
what makes up the ulnar triquetral column?
triquetrum and hamate
what is the pisiform bone?
the pisiform is regarded as a sesamoid bone embedded in the tendon of the flexor carpi ulnaris.
what type of joint is the pubic symphysis?
a synarthrotic joint (synchondrosis, fibrous cartilage) and has almost no motion potential
