What is the function of the mouth ?
The mouth is where food is chewed and mixed with salvia . An enzyme called amylase begins to break down starch

The digestive system is a group of organs working together to break down our food into tiny molecules
What is the oesophagus?
The oesophagus is a tube that carries food to the stomach by peristalsis
What is the function of the stomach ?
The stomach stores the food and mixes it with digestive juices and makes acid to kill bacteria
What is the function of the liver ?
The liver produces bile which helps to break down fats
What is the function of the small intestine ?
Food molecules are absorbed into the bloodstream here
What is the function of the pancreas ?
It produces more digestive enzymes
What is the function of the large intestine ?
It passes water back into the blood leaving solid waste
What are the five stages of nutrition?

What are the four types of teeth?
The incisors , canines , pre molars and molars
What is an enzyme ?
An enzyme is a chemical , made in a living cell, which can speed up a chemical reaction without itself being changed
What is a substrate ?
The substance acted on by an enzyme is called the substrate which is broken down into the product

Mouth , stomach , pancreas and small intestine
