The circulatory system Flashcards
The circulatory system
the transport system that takes care of digestion, gaseous exchange, absorption and nutrients plus oxygen is supplied to the body
what does the circulatory system contain
Heart pump
Blood vessels
Blood
Lymphatic systems
heart pump
one big muscle that contracts (pushes blood out) and relaxes (sucks blood in)
Blood vessels have 3 subsections
Arteries (red, take blood away from the heart)
Capillaries (tiny thin walled vessels allowing gaseous exchange and exchange of nutrients and waste with tissues)
Veins (blue, bring blood back to the heart)
extra info of arteries
they carry oxygenated blood and they transport 02 to all the bodies that need it
extra info on veins
they carry the deoxygenated blood and are very low on o2
lymphatic system
to bring the tissue fluid back into the circulatory system
show the transformation order?
Arteries - Capillaries - veins
complete the statement, arteries take blood away from the heart…
they divide into capillaries which reunite to form veins which bring blood back to the heart again.
the heart is divided into
left and right, but when it contracts it contracts at the same time
complete the statement - while oxygenated blood is being delivered…
to your body deoxygenated blood is being pushed out to the lungs
