the blood vessels Flashcards
explain the vein walls
veins have thin elastic walls that cary blood under low pressure
explain the artery walls
the arteries have thick muscular walls that carry blood under high pressure
explain the capillary walls
the capillary walls are very thin (only one cell layer thick)
the pulmonary artery
transports deoxygenated look from the right ventricle to the lungs to be oxygenated
the aorta
transports oxygenated blood from the left ventricle to the rest of the body
the pulmonary artery and the aorta
each have a valve at the opening, as they leave the heart.
what are the aorta and pulmonary artery valves called
the semilunar valves (the sound of the heartbeat is made by the closing of both these valves and the strip ventricular valves)
