Temperature Flashcards
What is temperature?
A measure of how hot or cold something is; a measure of average kinetic energy particles
What is a thermometer?
A thermometer measures temperature, and the common liquid ones use substances that expand with different temperatures
What are the two common scales for measuring temperature?
Farenheit and Celsius.
What’s the Farenheit to Celsius formula?
(F-32)/1.8
What’s the Celsius to Farenheit formula?
(1.8*C)+32
What’s the Kelvin scale?
Kelvin is another form of temperature measurement and is based on absolute zero.
What’s the Celsius to Kelvin formula?
K=C+273
What do temperature changes indicate?
Temperature change indicates energy transfer, and is commonly seen in chemical reactions as well.
