A

Stop if necessary and report to signaller immediately
Complete an RT3185

101
Q

ESR - What happens if the Warning Board is less than 400 metres after a signal? (Where would the Emergency Indicator be and what about the second AWS magnet……?)

A

The emergency indicator will be placed at the signal and the AWS magnet (for the signal) will be disconnected so it will always sound the horn….. then the second AWS magnet will still be positioned 180 metres before the Warning Board

102
Q

Do you need to report a fire beyond the boundary fence?

A

Only if you think it will endanger the safe passage of trains

103
Q

If you see a handsignaller with a yellow flag, do you still have to stop?

A

Yes, so you can receive instructions from him to pass the signal at danger (they should really be displaying a red flag, so if they are holding a yellow flag then if might be because……..)
UNLESS
The signaller has already told you about it and said you don’t need to stop

104
Q

When you decide on a safe speed (I.e. broken windscreen driver’s side….. damaged brakes), what things should you take into consideration? What MUST you always be able to do?

You must ALWAYS be able to stop within the distance you can see the line to be clear

105
Q

If you are authorised to pass a signal at danger, do you have to stop at the next signal (even if showing a proceed)?

A

Depends on what the signaller says! You might have to, or the signaller may tell you to obey all other signals, in which case you can increase the speed ONLY when the whole of your train goes through the proceed aspect (imagine there is a broken rail just before the signal….. if you increase speed before you pass the signal then you would derail and a lot of people would be injured)

A

20mph, you must lower your pantographs and not raise them again until you are sure the train is clear of the affected area

117
Q

Why do we have neutral sections?

124
Q

If there has been a report of trespassers, the signaller will stop you and tell you to proceed at what speed through the affected area? What do you do after this?

A

Caution
You then tell the signaller whether the trespassers are still in danger from approaching trains

125
Q

What are the order of signs if you’re travelling through a coasting area?

A
