Epinephrine - receptor and Uses?
Alpha-1, Alpha 2, Beta-1, beta-2 agonist – used in cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis, local vasoconstriction and topically for local hemorrhage
Norepinephrine- receptor and uses?
Agonist alpha-1 Alpha-2 and beta-1 – causes vasoconstriction and increased afterload
Dopamine – receptor and uses?
In low dose Dopamine agonist that causes vasodilation, medium low doses beta-1 agonist causes positive inotrope, medium high dose Beta-1 agonist causes increased heart rate and high-dose beta-1 agonist causes vasoconstriction
Dobutamine- receptor and uses?
Same as dopamine – synthetic Beta-1 agonist with minor beta-2 and alpha-1 agonist causes the same effects as dopamine. Used more in large animals especially for acute heart failure
Isoproterenol- receptor and uses?
Nonspecific beta agonist causes positive inotropic effect and increased blood flow and bronchodilation – not used in veterinary medicine because of the strong
Phenylephrine - receptor and uses?
Direct acting alpha-1 agonist causing increased peripheral vascular resistance used to treat hypertension and cats and dogs
Selective beta-2 agonists
Albuterol, salbutamol, clenbuterol, terbutaline, isoxsuprine
Albuterol/ Salbutamol- receptor and uses?
Used in inhalers
Clenbuterol- receptor and uses?
Used for equine dystocia because it causes uterine relaxation
Terbutaline -receptor and uses?
Used in small animal for bronchodilation
Isoxsuprine -receptor and uses?
Used for bovine dystocia
Nonselective beta agonist Ractopamine and Zilpaterol -receptor and uses?
Beta 3 agonist used for increased carcass leanness, feed efficiency, and increased deposition of muscle

Clomipramine- serotonin agonist
Doxepin- serotonin agonist- antihistamine
Monoamine oxidase inhibitor- Selegiline- inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and breakdown
