- well-defined cavity in cancellous bone contain seropurulent
- surrounding bone trabeculae thickened

- elevated esr - imaging
- plain: well-circumscribed, round, radiolucent cavity, 1-2 cm diameter, surrounded by rim (classic broddie abscess), proximal tibia or distal femur
