A
- PID (commonest)
- Lumbar spinal stenosis
- Secondary tumor
- Primary tumor (Schwannoma, glioma)
- Spinal abscess
- Penetrating wound
- Haematoma from epidural, spinal

Clinical features
A
- Dull aching back pain*
- Sciatica pain (shooting)*
- Numbness leg, tingling
- Lower limb weakness (rare)
- Saddle anaesthesia*
- Bladder and bowel dysfunction*
- Impotence

Neurological

Rectal
- Decrease anal tone
- Anal wink test
- Bulbocavernous reflex

Investigation
A
MRI CT Myelography (If contraindicated fr MRI)

Why emergency?
A
If left untreated, can lead to permanent:
- bladder, bowel control
- sexual dysfunction
- paralysis

Management
A
- Surgical decompression (within 24 hours have good prognosis)
