Strip and Body Cavity Searches

Individuals arrested for traffic violations or any criminal offenses shall not be strip searched unless the officer has..;

By sworn department personnel, to include matrons for females, by the least number of personnel necessary and by the same sex, under privacy conditions out of view of cctv with fingerprint room vacated and in the breathalyzer room with door closed. Just visual inspections not to involve touching.

to notify the supervisor, where to determine if PC exists to get a search warrant.

If PC exist for a body cavity search the officer should attempt to get a signed_______. If not and a warrant is obtained the officer will then;

Consent to search. Then transport to Newport Hospital and only a doctor or medical staff will conduct the search. If the doctor refuses the search warrant, the prisoner will be brought back to the station and the doctors name will be documented in the police report w/out the search being done.
