Emergency Vehicles are defined by RIGL 31-12-8/ 31-12-6 as?
Exemptions from traffic regulations to an authorized emergency vehicle shall apply while in motion with sound of a siren and emergency lights activated and when responding to an emergency or pursuit of a violator of the law.
Response Levels, Priority One is?
calls or events of serious life threatening, high priority nature. Lights & Siren, but with due care RIGL 31-12-9
Response Level, Priority Two is?
Calls that require a more immediate response, potentially serious, but not life threatening. Lights & Siren as reasonably need, but w/due care RIGL 31-12-9
Response Level, Priority Three is?
Non-emergency call. Obey all traffic laws. Pose no immediate threat to safety or public.
RI General Law 31-12-9 (Due Care by Emergency Vehicles)
shall not drive an emergency vehicle w/out due care for safety of all persons, nor shall protect the driver from consequences of the driver’s reckless disregard for the safety of others.
Are unmarked police vehicles equipped w/lights and sirens authorized for priority one response?
Yes
In accordance to RIGL 31-12-7 driver’s of an authorized emergency vehicle may (must have lights activated & siren as needed):
Park/stand irrespective of the provision of any law, proceed past a red/stop signal (BUT ONLY AFTER SLOWING DOWN & PROCEEDING SAFELY), exceed prima facia speed limits (As long as not endangering life or property, and disregard regulations of directions of movement or turning specific directions.
