Apply stressors and response to sport
A runner at the start of a 100m race may experience the stressor of lining up against other top-class athletes in a major race.
A positive response would be that the runner believes they are training well and that they will relish the challenge of testing themselves against the other runners.
A negative response would be that the athlete begins to think they do not have the ability to compete against these athletes and is afraid of letting the coach down.
