What is a tract?
Collections of axons in the CNS
What is the somatosensory pathway?
Goes to the brain (ascending)
What is the motor pathway?
Goes to the muscles (descending)
Where does the first order neuron go?
Receptor to spinal cord
Where does the second order neuron go to?
Spinal cord or Brainstem to thalamus
Where does the third order neuron go?
Thalamus to cerebral cortex
Where does the distal axon conduct info from?
Receptor to the cell body
Where does the proximal axon conduct info from?
Cell body to the spinal cord/brainstem
What is fidelity?
Degree of exactness (where pain is coming from)
Where is the face located on the homunculus?
Lateral side
Where is the upper body located on the homunculus
Superolateral
Where is the lower body located on the homunculus
Medial side
