what are health inequalities
health disparities between different groups and individuals(heterogenous groups) and health discrepancies between groups occupying unequal positions in society.
what are 3 social classes?

what different factors do the social classes differs ?
income, healthy behaviours and education.
what are the fundamental causes of health inequalities
unequal distribution of income, power and wealth which can lead to poverty and marginalisation of individuals and groups
give an example on how an individual’s social class can have environmental issues?
Working class can have hard environmental factors: occupational hazards that pose a risk to health for example chemical and agents, physical labour demands which can have a negative health outcome.
Occupational risks in offices
-repetitive strain injury
-carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS)
-prolonged sedentary time: higher risk of muscular-skeletal disorders, obesity and diabetes.
Occupational stress- psychological
Occupational stress symptoms
muscular tension, heart palpations and dermatological disorders
Control
buffering effect on work place stress- the more control someone has on their job its less likely to have occupational stress. People with low socioeconomic status are likely to have less control.
Ethnic minority group
people who differ in race, colour or national, religious or cultural origin from the dominant group -country they live in.
Lifestyle factors in ethnic minority groups
ethnic minority groups can prevalence effect chronic illness. For example, due to literacy rate they could be less aware of unhealthy diets
Social factors: be refugees, language barriers- can impact employment which has knock on effect to health outcomes later on.

-policies-reducing socio-economic inequalities should consider the needs of BAME groups
-services: should be sensitive to needs BAME groups and promote awareness of health risks
-needs of BAME groups should be considered in planning and providing health care
