social capital example
a bartender who is very personable and meets a lot of wealthy people but never makes much money and doesn’t act fancy
cultural capital example
comes from a poorer family but gets a Phd but still can’t get a job because he doesn’t know anyone
what is cultural capital
just think of anything that is not social or financial
such as education
class consciousness vs false consciousness
class - identifying as a member of ones economic class false - focusing on other parts of identity while not identifying ones own class buy into incorrect ideas about social class
how does a caste system define class
class position determined by someones family not socioeconomic status
