Soc 9 - Long Term Effects Of Exercise Flashcards
What are the long-term effects of aerobic training? Moderate intensity - with oxygen
The effects of training will increase the ability to work for long periods of time.
What is the long-term effect of anaerobic training? High intensity - no oxygen
The effects of training will increase the ability to move in quick bursts.
Effects on musclo-skeletal system
- Increased strength of ligaments and tendons
- Increased bone density
- Muscle hypertrophy
- Adaptation
Effects on the cardio-respiratory system
- Decreased resting heart rate
- Faster recovery rate
- Increased resting stroke volume
- Maximum cardiac output
5.size and strength of the heart
Effects on cardio-respritory system - your blood
- Improved fitness increase the number of capillaries in you muscles
- Increased number of red blood cells
- Drop in resting blood pressure
Effects on the respirstory system (3)
- Increased lung capacity/volume and vital capacity
- Increasednumber of alveoli
- Increased strength of the diaphram and external intercosal muscles
What is adaptation?
Your body’s response to training and how your body changes to cope with the new activity
What is alveoli?
Tiny sacs within our lungs that allow oxygen and carbon dioxide to move between the lungs and the bloodstream
What is a diaphram?
The primary muscle used in the process of insparation or inhalation
What is cardiac output?
The amount of blood ejected from your heart in one minute (CO) = (SV) X (HR)
What is resting stroke volume?
The amount of blood pumped per minute
What is recovery rate?
The speed at which you heart returns to RHR after you exercise
