Soc 21 Planes And Axes Of Movement Flashcards
What are Planes?
Planes are theoretical divisions that divide the human body into sections.
What is the Definition for planes
An Imaginary flat surface that divides the body in sections.
What are Sagittal planes?
The Sagittal planes divides the body into left and right ,resulting in a left and right side.
What is movement is found in a Sagittal planes
Flexion and Extension ( Foward and Backwards).
Definition of Sagittal planes
An imaginary Line dividing the vertically into left and right sides.
What is the movement in Frontal plane?
Adduction and Abduction (sidewards).
Definition of Frontal plane
An imaginary line dividing the body vertically from front to back.
What is the movement of a Transverse plane?
Movement : rotation
Definition of a Transvers plane?
An imaginary line dividing the body horizontally from top to bottom.
What is a Axis?
Our joints rotate around axes, and these
axes allow movement to take place in one
of the planes.
Definition of Axes
An imaginary straight line around which something turns.
What is the movement of a Frontal Axis
Movement : Flexion and extension
Definition of a Frontal axis
imaginary line passing horizontally through the body from left to right, allows flexion and extension.
What is the movement in a Sagittal axis?
Movement Adduction and Abduction
Definition of a Sagittal axis?
Imaginary line passing horizontally through the body from front to back, allows adduction and abduction.
