What are the 5 Health-related components of fitness?
Cardiovascular fitness (Endurance), Muscular strength, Muscular endurance, Flexibility, Body Composition.
Cardiovascular Fitness
The ability to exercise your whole body for long periods of time.
What Athlete would require cardiovacular fitness?
Marathon runner.
Why does a Marathon runner require cardiovascular fitness?
So he can run faster for further and work the whole body for a long period of time. He needs to run for 26 miles and therefore needs to have his heart able to pump blood around their whole body more efficiently to transport oxygen to the muscles while deposing of carbon dioxide more efficiently.
Defintion of Muscular Strength?
The amount of force a muscle can exert against a resistance.
What does muscukar strength allow the body to do?
It allows for the body to exert more force against a force against a resistance.
What sports require muscular endurance?
Sports such as rowing and cycling require lots of enduracne because you are utilising many of the same muscles for long periods of time.
What is flexibility?
The range of motion of your joints.
What is a tendon?
A tendon joins muscles to the bone.
What is a ligament?
A ligament holds a joint together and joins bones to bones.
Why is flexibility important?
Prevents injury and allows for a wider array of motion.
What sports require large anounts of flexibility?
Gymnastics and badminton.
What is body composition?
The percentage of body weight that is muscle, fat or bone.
