What is glucose
A major source of energy for most cells in the body.
What is aerobic respiration
The process of releasing energy from glucose,using oxygen.
What is aerobic exercise
Working at a moderat intensity allowing the body time to utillise oxygen for energy production and to work for a continuous period e.g long-distance runner.
What is lactic acid.
A colourless acid producedin the muscle tissues
What are fats broken down into
Fats are broken down into fatty acids these are absorbed into the blood and delivered to your cells.Any fatty acids that aren’t needed straight away can be stored in fat cells.
What foods are fats found in and what should the daily intake be
Fats are found in butter,cooking oils as well as in foods such as bacon,cheese,fish and nuts
The daily intake should be no more than 30% of your diet.
What is carbohydrates stored in
Carbohydrates can be stored in small amounts-enough to last a day or two-so your body uses them first for energy.
What are carbohydrates broken down into
Carbs are broke down into glucose or glycogen,which is absorbed through the walls of your small intestine.
What are types of carbohydrates
Complex carbohydrates:Starch is found in natural foods such as brown rice,bread and pasta.Foods this type to provide slow releasing and long lasting energy for exercise and ahould form half of our daily intake.
