Soc 12 Flashcards
What are the bones in your arm
Radius,Ulna,Humerus.
What are the bones are in the hand/wrist
Carpals (cufflinks),metacarpals (wrists),phalanges
What are the bones in your foot/ankle
Tarsals,metatarsals,phalanges
What are the bones in your leg
Femur,pantella,tibia,fibula
What are the bones in your Torso
Pelvis.
What is the real name for shoulder blade
Scapula
What is the real name for collar bone
Clavicle.
What is the bone in your spine.
What are long bones
Humeras,radius,ulna,metatarsals,phalanges,femur,tibia,fibula
What are the short bones with example
Tarsals, carpals, patella:Short bones are usually associated with weight baring, shock absorption and spreading loads. They play a key role in activities like jogging, playing tennis or dancing.
What are the flat bones with example
Clavicle,pelvis,sternum,scapula,cranium,rib
Explain a pivot joint.
Pivot joints:allow the bones to have the movement of rotation in your neck/first 2 vertebrae’s.Connects the neck and the head.
Explain hinge joint
Hinge joint:Allows for flection and extension in the knee and elbow (forward, backward. motion).
Explain ball and socket joint
Ball and socket joints:A ball goes into the socket in your humerus into scapula or femur allows good range of movement.
Explain condyloin joint
Condyloid joint:Wrist it allows us to do a circular motion the ball rests against the end of the bone.
Describe the movement Flexion
Bending movement that decreases the angle between body parts.
What is extension and a sporting example
Straightening movement that increases the angle between body parts
Sporting example:A swimmer swings the arm backwards in preparation for a racing dive.
What is Dorsiflexion and a sporting example
Bending or flexing the toes up,closer to the skin.
Sporting example:A sprinter positions their feet in the starting blocks.
What is plantar flexion and a sporting example
Extending or pointing the toes down, away from the skin.
Sporting example:A floor gymnast points their toes.
What is adduction and sporting example
Movement that pulls towards the midline of the body.
Sporting example:A golfer on the tee swings the club down towards the ball.
What is abduction and a sporting example
Movement that pulls away from the midline of the body.
Sporting example:A gymnast moves their arm out sideways at the shoulder when performing the crucifix on the rings.
What is rotation and a sporting example
Movement around a single axis or pivot pant.
Sporting example:A tennis player serves.
What is circumduction and a sporting example
Moving in a circular a conical shape.
A sporting example:a cricketer bowls a ball.
What is a tendon
A tendon attaches the muscle to bone and help to move them.
What is a ligament
These are elastic fibres that joins bone to bone usually hold things together.
What is an Irregular bone
Have odd shapes and vary in function, vertabrae.Offer protection when playing sport, tend to form soecific functions.
What is flat bone
Protect organs or offer a good surface for muscles to attach to.Provide movement.
