What is slow twitch muscle fibres (type 1)
These suit endurance activities-can work for long periods of time.
They’re darker in colour because they contain Myoglobin,a red pigment that transports oxygen to tbe working muscles.
What are the fast twitch muscle fibres.
Type 11a-used in a anaerobic work which can be improved through high intensity interval training.Increasing their resistence to fatigue.
Type 11x -used in highly explosive anaerobic work that can generate more power than the other muscle fibres but fatigue can happen quickly.
Suit speed events such as sprinting or jumping (type 11a and type 11x) are lighter in colour because they don’t use oxygen for energy.
