What is the order of blood.
Vena cava (superior)
Semiluna valves
Right atrium
Vena cava inferior
Tricupid value
Right ventricle
Pulmonary artery
Pulmonary vein
Left atrium
Bicuspid valve.
Left ventricle.
Aorta (at the top)
What is a vein
Veins carry blood into the heart.
What are the 4 functions if veins
1.they carry blood into the heart.
2.veins have much thinner walls, are less elastic and carry blood at a lower pressure.
3.veins contain manh valves which helps deoxygenated blood flow to the heart.
4.The pulmonary arteries is different to the other veins as it carries oxygenated blood from the lungs back to the heart.
What is an artery
Takes blood away from the heart.
What are the 4 main functions of a artery
Arteries have thick walls and are more elastic than can widen to allow more blood through so when you exercise it can reach the working muscles.
2.the channel the blood flows through ,called the lumen can widen to allow blood through so when you exercise it can reach the working muscles.
3.The pulmonary artery is different from other arteries as it carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.
What does the immune system do.
The structures and processes in your body that stop disease.
What is thrombokinase
A substance involved in blood clotting.
What is serotonin
A hormone that triggers the clotting process.
What is plasma
The fluid part of the blood.
What is erythrocyte
Red blood cell
What is haemoglobin
A red protein in the blood that transports oxygen.
What is anaemia
A comdition where there is a lack of red blood cells or haemoglobin in the blood.
What is leukocyte
White blood cells
What is a pathogen
An agent that causes disease such as a virus
What is an antibody
Chemical that destroys a pathogen.
