Gluteals location
the middle of the body at the back, forming the bottom.
Gluteals function
Adduct and extend the leg at the hips, pull the leg backwards.
Hamstrings location
At the top of each leg at the back.
Hamstrings funcation
Flex the legs at the knees.
Gastrocnemius location
At the bottom of each leg at the back. Also known as the calf muscles.
Gastrocnemius function
Point the toes (planta-flexion) at the ankle.
Latissimus Dorsi location
At the back of the body, either side
of the chest.

Pull your arms down at the shoulders and behind your back (adduct and extend)
Triceps location
At the top of each arm at the back.
Tricpes function
Extend the arm at the elbow.
Deltoids location
In the upper part of the body, covering the shoulders.
Deltoids function
Raise the arms in all directions at the shoulders.
Biceps location
At the top of each arm at the front.
Biceps function
Flex the arm at the elbows.
Quadriceps location
At the top of each leg at the front.
Quadriceps function
Extend the leg at the knee.
Pectoralis major location
In the upper part of the chest at the front.

Adduct the arm at the shoulder.
External obliques location
To the side of the abdomen.
External obliques function
Pull the chest downwards. Flex and rotate the spinal column.
Tibialis anterior location
Runs down the shin.
Tibialis anterior function
Pull the toes up towards the shin (dorsi-flexion).
Hip flexors location
Sit deep in the front of the hip and connect the leg
Hip flexors function
Flex the hip, help the leg and knee up towards the body.
Antagonistic pairs
Muscles that work together to create a movement.

When one muscle contracts
