Where is the Gluteals?
In the middle of the body at the back, forming the bottom
Where are the hamstrings?
At the top of each leg at the back.
Where is the gastrocnemius?
At the bottom of each leg at the back. Also known as the calf muscles.
What does the gluteals do?
Adduct and extend the leg at the hips, pull the leg backwards.
What do the hamstrings do?
Flex the legs at the knees.
What does the gastrocnemius do?
Point the toes (planta-flexion) at the ankle.
What does the Latissimus Dorsi do?
Pull your arms down at the shoulders and behind your back (adduct and extend).
Where is the Latissimus Dorsi?
At the back of the body, either side of the chest.
Where are the triceps?
At the top of each arm at the back.
What do the triceps do?
Extend the arm at the elbow.
Where are the deltoids?
In the upper part of the body, covering the shoulders.
What do the deltoids do?
Raise the arms in all directions at the shoulders.
Where are the biceps?
At the top of each arm at the front
What do the biceps do?
Flex the arm at the elbows.
Where are the quadriceps?
At the top of each leg at the front.
What do the quadriceps do?
Extend the leg at the knee
Where are the pectoralis?
In the upper part of the chest at the front.
What do the pectoralis do?
Adduct the arm at the shoulder.
Where are the External obliques?
To the side of the abdomen.
What do the external obliques do?
Pull the chest downwards. Flex and rotate the spinal column.
Where is the Tibialis anterior?
Runs down the shin.
What does the tibialis anterior do?
Pull the toes up towards the shin (dorsi-flexion).
What are the hip flexors?
Sit deep in the front of the hip and connect the leg .
What do the hip flexors do?
Flex the hip, help the leg and knee up towards the body.
