SOC 13: Joints, Movements, Ligaments and Tendons Flashcards
What are the 4 types of joints?
- Pivot
- Hinge
- Ball and Socket
- Condyloid
What movement is available at the neck?
Pivot
What movement is available at the wrist?
Condyloid
What movement is available at the knee, elbow and ankle?
Hinge

What are the 8 movements?
Flexion, Extension, Rotation, Abduction, Circumduction, Dorsi-flexion, Plantar-flexion
Flexion
bending movement that decreases the angle between body parts
Extension
straightening movement that increases the angle between body parts
Adduction
movement that puls towards the midline of the body
Abduction
movement that pulls away from the midline of the body
Rotation
