An on-scene report is required
From the first arriving unit when dispatched to structure fires, unconfirm structure fires, and fire alarms when the response has three or more fire department units responding
On scene reports are not required on
Medical calls, single engine responses, and traffic accidents
Examples of types of occupancies
Single-family dwelling Garden apartment Townhouse Commercial structure Big box store Strip shopping center
The primary goal of defensive mode
Prevent the extension of damage beyond the structures or area involved upon arrival, or to limit extension to other property
Defensive mode can be used when
Structural integrity is compromised, fire conditions prevent an offensive attack, lack of resources, and there is no chance of viability for any remaining occupants
Pertinent information includes
lightweight construction or bow-string truss
Required info on Radio Report
- Correct address if different
- # of floors
- type of occupancy
- Conditions upon arrival, pertinent info
- Mode of attack
