600-28 Lost/Trapped Firefighter Flashcards
MAYDAY procedures are to be used by anyone operating in IDLH who find thmselves
lost, trapped, injured, or any situations that requires rescue
During MAYDAY 4 components must work together
- FF/crew in need of immediate resuce
- Pinellas County ECC
- IC, Command Staff, General staff
- Remaining personnel on scene
This places your radio transmission as top priority through dispatch

Transmit MAYDAY by:
identifying unit # and repeating MAYDAY three times
LUNAR
Location, Unit, Name, Assignment, Resources needed
As soon as FF recognizes need for MAYDAY they should
activate PASS device
If FF cannot get out, he should assume what position
Horizontal on the floor to maximize audible affects of PASS
FF should attempt to position flashlight __ while awaiting rescue
towards the ceiling
After an unconfirmed Sims Code H, and unsuccessful attempt to contact IC
Immediately respond a full alarm to assist
When a MAYDAY is called, the IC shall
deploy RIC, request MAYDAY tone, and whatever other resources necessary to affect the rescue
IC shall make an announcement to all units on scene that MAYDAY has been declared, including
Person’s name, unit, last known location and situation if known
During MAYDAY adequate transport resources are required
one transport capable unit per lost/trapped FF
One supervisor to coordinate treatment/transport
Conduct a PAR during MAYDAY ops to determine
- Who is lost, trapped, missing
- How many are lost
- What was last known location
- How many members are injured
