Mode of operation in any water > 2ft deep, rapidly moving water > ankle deep, where depth cannot be dtermined

Marine response consists of
- Closest 2 FD marine units
- Engine company
- ALS unit
- FD Command Officer
- Appropriate LE marine unit
Fire Boat
any vessel w/ fire pump on it
Marine Unit
any motorized boat
Light Marine
Jet Ski/ Wave Runner
Potential Launch Sites are indicated on MDC maps using
Color coding system
Launch site color: green
All fire boats and marine units able to launch
Launch site color: yellow
only small marine units able to launch
Launch site color: red
low tide does not allow for fire boat or marine units to launch
Surface rescue order of rescue ops

- reach
- wade
- throw
- row
- go and tow
- Helo
First response units shall establish __ by use of buoy/float to assist Dive teams w/ search
“Last seen point”
Suggested safety line for water rescue ops
Minimum of 3/8” synthetic line w/ max. length of 150’
Primary communication on water rescues will be
800 MHZ radio system
If Coast Guard is responding, dispatch will notify Command of
VHF Channel
If Coast Guard is not responding and IC wishes to use VHF, Command shall
Have dispatch request a working channel from the Coast Guard
